By accessing or using the BuddyLunch application and website ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
BuddyLunch is a lunch coordination platform that enables users to create groups, schedule lunch events, track payer rotation, split bills, and communicate with group members. The Service is provided via an iOS application and the buddylunch.com website.
3. Account Registration
To use BuddyLunch, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
- Send spam, harassing, or abusive messages through group chat
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or our systems
- Use automated tools to scrape or interact with the Service without permission
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
5. Groups and Content
When you create or join a group, other members of that group can see your name, email address, event participation, and messages you post. You are responsible for the content you share within groups. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.
6. Payments and Bill Splitting
BuddyLunch provides bill splitting calculations and generates links to third-party payment services (such as Venmo and PayPal). BuddyLunch does not process, facilitate, or guarantee any financial transactions. All payments are handled entirely by the third-party payment service you choose. We are not responsible for any disputes, errors, or issues arising from payments made through third-party services.
7. Push Notifications
By enabling push notifications, you consent to receive notifications about events, RSVPs, group messages, payer rotation updates, and inactivity reminders. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
8. Intellectual Property
The BuddyLunch name, logo, and all related visual design elements are the property of BuddyLunch. You may not use our branding without written permission. Content you create within the Service (messages, group names, etc.) remains yours, but you grant us a license to store and display it as necessary to provide the Service.
9. Service Availability
We strive to keep BuddyLunch available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by service interruptions.
10. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or engage in activity that harms other users or the Service. Upon termination, your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at any particular time.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BuddyLunch shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to disputes over payments, missed lunch events, or incorrect payer rotation calculations.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
14. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
